“Back in my day…” Seriously, it never stops. And then one day, you realize you’re telling someone, “Back in my day…” –and a part of your soul dies.
The African-American fellow in the foreground is First-Sergeant Tucker, the senior Sergeant in Alpha Company; the elderly gent behind him in Sergeant-Major Deeds, from the Brigade. They’re just here for today’s comic and may pop in from time to time when I need crusty old NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) wisdom, but in general they aren’t central to the lives of the guys in 1st Platoon.
I actually have a detailed table of organization for the 213th Battalion which I may share sometime soon. It won’t be necessary for the comic and would be provided just to please the curious, the detail-oriented, and to give the false impression that I have more time on my hands than I really do. But it will show where everyone is in relation to each other within the organization.
