How we confront death reveals much about our society. Our values, and what we felt we didn’t get enough of in the here & now can be reflected in what we imagine the afterlife to be like. Or, what our worst fears might have been. Perhaps the Jihadi on top always harbored secret doubts that his beliefs were wrong… and guess what? Maybe blowing up a crowd of people wasn’t the celestial ticket-punch that was advertised. Meanwhile, the guy on the bottom panel has a more Western fear reflected in his confrontation with Death.
