The “Government Paperwork Elimination Act” is a thing. In the 90’s there was an effort to cut back on government paperwork and consolidate forms as much as possible. Of course, when there is a new act or law or rule that changes the nature of your paperwork, the government is required to print out a summary of what this means to you, and to assure you that, for example, you still have the same rights as you had before, they’re just not all spelled out the way they used to be, and so on.

Well, when you’re printing out a 100+ page document, manual, or whatever, a couple extra pages that explain what has changed, and why, isn’t a big deal. You can even argue that it makes sense, if you are optimistic about such things. But most people need to fill out basic forms, one or two pages perhaps, so printing out another couple pages of “Paperwork Elimination Act” becomes another one of those eye-rolling moments that goes along with anything having to do with “government” and “paperwork”.

Is there as “Government Paperwork Elimination Act” Smart Card? I have never seen one, but it would not surprise me if it is out there.
