It’s Inauguration Day in the United States; the first Inauguration of a new President since the comic’s founding in 2013. I wanted to do something to commemorate the event.

The United States has done many great things in the past, and has stood for liberty in dark times. This is a webcomic about “citizen soldiers”, people who join for many reasons… the advertisements say “adventure” and “job skills” and “tuition money” but  at some point a sense of loyalty to what is written in the Constitution comes into play. They’re good words, and worth loyalty. But they’re also worth reading and paying attention to, and not just blindly fetishizing the document itself as a fig leaf for nationalism.

New leadership, new challenges, a new world. Let’s make sure the challenges borne by yesterday’s citizen soldiers were not in vain.

Art by yours truly; inking by the magnificent Adrienne Presnell. Look for “Adrianne’s Art” on Facebook.
