There were a lot of stray animals over in Iraq; actually it’s all over the Middle East –I’ve heard stories about stray dogs in Afghanistan, and I lived in Israel for 4 years and that place was pretty much the elemental plane of stray cats. Mostly in Iraq I saw stray dogs, more than cats, but there were a share of felines as well.

One of the stray dogs (although he has a kerchief on, so someone was probably taking care of him) at a FOB (Forward Operating Base) called “Buckmaster”, up by Tikrit. We saw him frequently on convoy stops there.
