Seriously, that is exactly how it played out. We would be told we couldn’t have alcohol to respect Muslim culture, and then go right to chow and have endless varieties of pork products to choose from. A lot of people didn’t see the disconnect, but I’ve studied Muslim & Arabic history for years and really, a serious Muslim would probably rather be hit by a fully-loaded beer truck while crossing the road than be in the vicinity of a ham sandwich.
