But guys (and gals) go overseas and come home with foreign spouses a lot. I recall hearing about a ancient Roman record of a Legionnaire that brought his Syrian bride with him when he got posted to “Provincia Britannia“, Roman Britain. I don’t recall specifics and may be mis-remembering the details. Maybe that should be a recruiting slogan? “Join the Army; Bring Home Interesting New People”.

I wonder if future archaeologists will try to make sense of our “migratory patterns” or something.
