8 June:
I heard a story once –forgot where I heard it– about an Iraqi man who asked a soldier on patrol for some of his “cool pills”. Apparently the Iraqis were under the impression that we had pills we could take that would regulate our body temperature, and allow us to keep cool even while we wore our IBA’s. He could not believe that we were wearing these things all day without some sort of miracle device to alleviate the heat.

Seriously, was there a heat setting on the backs of these things, that only Sergeants-Major could see and adjust? Or were they all factory set to the hottest setting?
