I’d planned on doing some follow-up to a lot of the other characters, the “fills” and so on. “Junior Ric” Ricardo, Kajama, Purdue, Patterson, Ransom, Mizrachi and the others will, sooner or later, get some mentions. I figured I’d start with Wendy Two-Feathers, since I recently read Nathaniel Philbrick’s book “The Last Stand: Custer, Sitting Bull, and the Battle of the Little Bighorn” and the Reservation I had in mind for her background was fresh in my thoughts. I don’t pretend to be an expert on Indian Reservations in the United States, but there is an unfortunate reality that many residents on those reservations don’t have a lot of opportunities. In this case, Wendy has exchanged one situation for another, although at least no one is shooting at her or setting roadside bombs.

Also, the fact that she was a dog handler is mentioned– I will do something with the Military Working Dogs, Sadie and Butter, again in the future as well.

Wendy Two-Feathers is still in her Reserve unit, and may be featured in other upcoming comics as well, but for now she’s in a sort of “enforced chill status”. I think what I might do is have Joe Rock go on a road trip around the country to see everyone and follow up on them, and see where they’ve gone after coming back from Iraq.
