There are legends in the Army (and the other branches) of Sergeants-Major and their love for their lush, green lawns. Every base is home to multiple different commands such as Battalion and Brigade level organizations, or Squadrons, or what have you. And almost all of them have headquarters buildings surrounded by lush, green, carefully manicured lawns that are the pride and joy of the Sergeant-Major from that command.
Now, the Sergeant-Major is like that cranky old dude in the neighborhood who yells at you to “get off my lawn!” but the Sergeant-Major himself doesn’t care for that expanse of grass. Oh, no– YOU do. If you get caught walking on the lawn, sitting on it, spitting on it or perhaps even looking at it for too long, the Sergeant-Major will notice, and next thing you know, you will be “volun-told” to take care of it. Mowing, weeding, raking leaves, spreading fertilizer, whatever is needed. That lawn will be the envy of the planet, and your evenings and weekends will be forfeit until it is so.
A pop-up Sergeant-Major with an automatically playing recording of admonition will be sufficient to scare away any soldier, sailor, airman or Marine who has ever had to face the wrath of the Sergeant-Major and his obsessive-compulsive lawn care disorder. I guess the moral to this story is that we can be our own worst enemies, and the corollary to that is that a bit of research and some good Intelligence work can be worth a lot.
Well, due to my various travels and duties, I’ll leave this glorious two and a half page special up for awhile, for about two weeks, and then I’ll have another one come up to ride out the month. Enjoy and tell your friends that if they ever wanted to “get into BOHICA Blues” but were intimidated by the huge amount of comics to get caught up on (more comics than Terminal Lance now!) that now is a great time to get going. In the meantime, if you just can’t wait, I have a ton of stuff at Patreon and more stuff will be set to auto-post there while I am away. Take care and see you again in a couple weeks!
