Sometimes your imagination gets the better of you; I suspect people end up daydreaming at just about any job, especially if the opportunities are so obvious. I imagine that military cooks are probably not allowed to experiment with too many “custom” ingredients– I’m not even talking about things that are questionable or illegal, I mean things like wild hot sauces or stuff like Himalayan pink salt (which I just recently found was a thing). Pretty much everything has to be pre-inspected, a contract signed, and pre-bought in agreed-upon bulk or something like that.
Putting a bit of Dave’s Ghost Pepper sauce into something might feel kinda witchy and magical.
