A driven commander will see to it that his or her troops remain constantly occupied and focused on some sort of tasks at all times. A wise commander will recognize that rest and sleep are as important as food and water. A rested body and a fresh mind are important for making sure people stay on top of their game.
Of course, sometimes the people calling the shots above you are more driven than wise; that said the wise commander knows his or her people and what they can bring to the table and finds a way to make both ends meet.
As the 213th Battalion prepares to go to Kuwait and then into Iraq, I will focus on their adventures and the tale of the people back home, and hopefully tell both sends of that tale as well.
