So, this happened. I sincerely hope that enough time has passed that we can now all look back at this and laugh.

We deployed to Kosovo and there was a dress code that was established, specifically stating that “leggings”, — womens’ tight pants– were not authorized to be worn. Some of the female troops found this sexist, and made an official complaint.

The complaint went through channels and was found to have merit– eventually, a redaction had to be issued. However, rather than just redact the issue directly, a whole new memorandum was issued with updated policy: a laundry list of approved clothing and when certain classes of civilian clothing could be worn.

The paragraph that addressed the issue with leggings had a specific instruction about how stitching on the rear of the leggings could only go so far into the “inter-gluteal cleft”… essentially, so as not to exaggerate or draw attention to the ol’ buttcrack.

Now, to me that almost leads right to the next question– what are the circumstances under which someone will have to inspect hiney stitching? What are their qualifications? How is training going to be conducted?

Alas, these questions go unanswered.

Thankfully, we only have a couple months left on the rotation.
