OK, so I admit you kinda had to be there for this, but I think the context is provided.

Yes, for some reason, the heaters in the latrines (restrooms) were cranked up super-hot all winter. The stated purpose was so the pipes in the buildings didn’t freeze (the insulation was “modest”).

But holy cow, the heaters were cranked up way beyond what was needed to keep the pipes from freezing. It was over 80° F on the average, sometimes 90°.

Would I go in there and turn it down to a more reasonable level? You bet. And when the KBR employees came around twice a day to do… whatever it was they did… they’d turn it back up.

Now sometimes in the dead of winter it wasn’t so bad to go in for a shower or a bit of… um, “relief”… and be nice and cozy-warm.

But when it is February in the Balkans and you’re stepping out of the latrine coated in a sheen of sweat from the Turkish Sauna-like conditions, it has been taken a step too far.

Until later!
