The one in the comic is a Russian-made armored personnel carrier known generally as an MT-LB (the initials mean something in Russian). Those are the wrecked vehicles we saw the most (probably because, of all the Russian armored personnel carriers, they were the ones with the poorest armor). The one in the photo is (I think) a BMP (again, Russian initials). I suspect the wrecks we saw that were most rusted and burned were actually left over from the 1991 Gulf War.
