“Hey, it’s got ‘Engineer’ in the title, right?”

It happens just often enough– as a Combat Engineer, people ask me if I work with AutoCAD or if my Army job involves a lot of “sitting around in an office”. It doesn’t happen too often, but just regularly enough that I’m prepared to explain. When I was a kid, my mom told me I could be an engineer some day… I didn’t want to break her heart by revealing that while I thought trains were cool, I didn’t know if I really wanted to drive one for the rest of my life. So I guess we all have different ideas of ‘engineer’.

So, Joe is going to try his “drift along on unemployment” scheme for awhile, while Juni Okuda is going to apply for anything anywhere until it is time for student registration.

Big City Coffee is a real place in Boise, and it is probably one of my favorite coffee haunts. It’s popular and very crowded, especially on weekends– if anything, the background I’ve shaded in here is indicative of a light crowd, so this scene probably took place on a weekday.
