Sometimes it seems people can’t help but see you through their “veteran goggles”. For a lot of people, I think the image of what a “veteran” is was stuck in the post-Vietnam image of an angry brooding biker type or something along those lines. They exist, but as with a lot of things, imagination makes things seem more extreme than they really are.

Still, I can’t help but wonder what the “veteran goggles” effect might be on the increasing amount of female veterans we see now, and will see more of in the future.
