We’ve all seen it; calorie counts or whatnot are always recorded based on “servings” or portions– “250 calories per serving”, for example. All government agencies that have a say in food service provide that food to people based on these portions. So, how big are the portions? Never quite enough, it seems.

The average American (and indeed, most modern Westerners) are used to having more food available than we truly need. The calories we need just to function and survive feel insufficient by comparison; but then we also get MRE’s, Meals Ready-to-Eat, that are loaded with tons of calories… for a hard day of fighting and marching with heavy load.

In other news, I have switched over entirely to using the posable 3D art dolls in Clip Studio Paint. There are advantages to this– I can get any pose I want, while with photographs I was limited to what the pictures showed me. And, the 3D art dolls have blank facial features, so I can put the images of my characters on them without being overly influenced by the photographs.

That said, I am still not used to working with them. To me, the images appear flat and kind of artificial. I’m going to continue working with them to get more familiar and comfortable with the process. Eventually I hope to make this feel easier, more instinctive, and I can achieve better results.
