Many years ago I had a roommate; he and his girlfriend would cook up their dinners together and somehow, magically, it involved every single pot, pan, dish and flatware in the entire house. Since then, I have met a lot of people that can’t seem to prepare the simplest of meals without covering everything in a ten-foot radius in a half inch of grease & gravy.
That said, it’s not like I have that much room to talk; my cooking skills top out at box macaroni & cheese.
Sometimes I see cooking shows on television and it always amazes me how incredibly messy the cooks (and cooking processes) are. Of course, they’re focused on the goal, great food, and clean-as-you-go is a distraction from that. Perhaps that’s my problem– on those rare occasions when I cook, I constantly clean and put away things after using them. Am I just not staying focused enough?
