The unit is at the Mobilization Site now, and they get to settle in and enjoy the start of a whole new routine– in other words, doing all the things they already did before at their Home Station, just in a new place!
It seems like everywhere you go in the Army, you need to jump through the same hoops, again and again. I can’t remember how many times I’ve taken “CyberAwareness” training the last year alone– everyone needs a “more recent” certificate, or some such. Or like today, when it had to match the date on a different document (such as on the Army’s IT system user agreement).
The military services all seem to just load on the redundancies, and while we mostly talk about things like online training and collecting certificates like little receipts of responsibility, they also tend to do this with other things, like vaccines.
I’m pretty much immunized against almost anything. In fact, I’ve been immunized against Smallpox on three separate occasions… whoopee!
Oddly enough, one thing they don’t always seem to double up on is spare parts for maintenance. Vehicles wait for months, sometimes for year, for spare parts. No joke! I think it’s because in the past, dishonest Motor Pool sergeants would take parts and sell them for personal profit. Whereas no one is likely to peddle off their extra CyberAwareness certificates on eBay for something.
